It’s a Wonderful Life

It’s a Wonderful Life

Last night I shared my favorite Christmas classic movie with my kids. It’s a Wonderful Life didn’t hold the attention of the younger two for more than 45 minutes, but Angel stayed with me until the end.

At first, she was not happy about watching something that was in black and white, but she soon got into the plot. She asked me what was going on about 100 times. She also said it was getting boring several times. It is a long movie with a lot of details above an 8 year old’s head. But she hung in there.

Of course, she loved the ending. That is what makes it such a great story! Angel completely understood the point of the story and was so excited that Clarence got his wings. I cried like I do every year that I watch it. It was so wonderful to get to share this with her. Now, maybe she will look forward to watching it with me every Christmas season. I think that would be an awesome tradition!

Next on my list of classics to share with them is Miracle on 34th Street. Someone recently told me that Sweetheart looks and talks like Natalie Wood from this movie!

This will serve as my WE post for this week.

  1. Excellent movie!! I think my oldest daughter would like this one, too. Glad you got to enjoy it with Angel. I cry every time, too, and each year it makes me think deeper and deeper into my own life.

  2. That is so sweet that you and your daughter shared that. You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that movie.

  3. Very sweet! I can’t wait to start sharing some classics with my little ones : )

  4. That is still one of my favorite movies! I have yet to get my kids to watch it with me, but I am holding out hope!

  5. I’m glad she ended up in liking. My favorite is Bing Crosby’s A White Christmas. W.W. actually sat through most of it with me. I think the singing and dancing kept him entertained. :)

  6. My son said that they watched this in class earlier this week. (cause THAT is what i’m sending him to school for… geesh!) Anyway, when rated by an 11yo boy… you get words like boring, stupid, waste of my time, hated it… well, you get the point. I have to confess that I have never actually seen it.

I am glad one of your girls stuck with you through the whole thing. Those kind of moments are nice to have.
